On July 24, a disturbing incident occurred in Huruma, Mathare Sub County, Nairobi, where a 19-year-old form three student, Buke Juma, attacked his elder brother, Salu Galgalo, with a stone, inflicting serious injuries on his jaw.
According to reports, Galgalo was seated outside his house when Juma knocked him down with a stone and fled, leaving him sprawled on the ground. Fortunately, a witness who intervened to rescue Galgalo picked up Juma's phone, which he had left behind.
Galgalo was rushed to a clinic for emergency care before being referred to a hospital for proper treatment. Miraculously, he has fully recovered.
When brought to justice, Galgalo declined to forgive his brother, stating in court that he prefers Juma to be jailed. Chief Magistrate Abdul Lorot of Kibera law courts ordered a social inquiry report for Juma before sentencing him, hinting at a possibility of a non-custodial sentence due to Juma's remorse and Galgalo's recovery.
