CAF Reschedules Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Published on August 19, 2020, the CAF Emergency Committee has approved the resumption dates for the Total Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 and the group stage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the schedules for both competitions have been revised. The qualifying matches for Cameroon 2021 are set to resume on November 9-17, 2020, with the penultimate and ultimate matches taking place on March 22-30, 2021.

The 40 teams competing for the five slots in Qatar 2022 will begin their journey on May 31-June 15, 2021, with the Day 1 & 2 matches. The Day 3 & 4 matches are scheduled for August 30-September 7, 2021, and the Day 5 & 6 matches will take place on October 4-12, 2021.

The Playoff matches have been scheduled for November 8-16, 2021. CAF is closely monitoring the situation and working with relevant authorities regarding the hosting of matches, and will make announcements accordingly in the event of any developments that may affect playing a match at the designated venue.
