On August 25, 2020, COMESA launched the 50 Million African Women Speak Platform (50MAWSP) in Zimbabwe, marking the beginning of a series of national launches across the region.

The platform, accessible via www.womenconnect.org, aims to empower women economically by providing a one-stop-shop for financial and non-financial services.

Implemented by COMESA in conjunction with the East African Community (EAC) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the project is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The platform will provide women in member states of ECOWAS, EAC, and COMESA, as well as other African countries, with information on how to run businesses, access financial services, create business opportunities online, and access training resources.

Twelve more launches are scheduled to take place in Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Egypt, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Sudan, and Tunisia between August and November 2020.
