On September 29th-30th, 2020, the 5th UK – Africa Investment Forum & Policy Dialogue 2020 took place, featuring the 5th African Business Leadership Awards ceremony.
The event recognized exceptional corporate practices and outstanding achievers in Africa's business landscape and private sector.
Rebecca Miano, CEO of KenGen, was awarded the African Inspirational Business Leadership Award, while Hassanein Hiridjee, CEO of Axian Group, Madagascar, was the runner-up in this category.
James Mwangi, CEO of Equity Group Holdings, Kenya, won the African CEO of the Year Category, beating Mauricio Alarcon, former CEO of Nestle Nigeria Plc.
Lee Kinyanjui, Nakuru County Governor, was the winner in the Business-Friendly Governor of the Year Category, with David Makhura, South Africa Gauteng Province Premier, as the runner-up.
Safaricom was named the top African Company of the Year, followed by Nestle Nigeria as the first runner-up.
The African Business Leadership Awards 2020 attracted over 220,000 entries and submissions from Africans across the continent and in the diaspora.
The winners were unveiled by Dr. Ken Giami, Publisher of the Africa Leadership Magazine, at the UK Head Office of the group.
