On August 18, 2020, a shocking revelation emerged about the Kisumu Bus Park, where a notorious gang, led by Oliver, aka Veti, was attempting to revive a lucrative corruption racket.
The racket, which had been exposed earlier, involved corrupt police officers colluding with bus stage cartels to extort money from matatu owners. According to insiders, the corrupt officers, including Jacksnee, Seth, Barnabas, and Orez, were collecting a whooping sh 1 million daily from the county government.
George Kinoti, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), was said to be leading a high-profile investigation into the matter. The corrupt officers were accused of operating under the blessings of troubled Oliver, who was now under the radar of spy agencies.
Matatu owners were allegedly being forced to pay a sky-scraping illegal fee to enter the bus park stage and collect passengers. One matatu owner, who wished to remain anonymous, pleaded with the government to intervene and rescue them from the group.
Further investigations revealed that the wealthy group, driving luxurious vehicles, was handing over the loot to corrupt police officers at prestigious clubs. The public is now appealing to Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to come to their aid and save them from the deadly militia.
