On August 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta made significant appointments to various parastatals, naming members of the Maa community to key positions. The move has been welcomed by leaders from Kajiado County, who see it as a testament to the government's trust in the community.
Among those appointed was former Kajiado County Senator Peter ole Mositet, who was named chair of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority board. Mositet expressed gratitude to the president for the appointment, stating that he is committed to ensuring that state policies are implemented to the letter.
Other notable appointments include politician Peter ole Musei as chair of the Consolidated Bank board and Alex ole Magelo as a member of the Kenya Leather Development Council board. The appointments were announced through a gazette notice on August 7, 2020.
MP Peris Tobiko, who led the group of leaders hailing the appointments, thanked President Kenyatta for the honour bestowed upon the Maa community. 'We want to thank the president for the honour he has bestowed upon the Maa community,' Tobiko said.
