On August 8, 2020, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala made a shocking move, revoking Pauline Njoroge's appointment as a member of the Tourism Regulatory Authority board with immediate effect.

The decision was made after the ministry learned of her past remarks about the Nairobi National Park, which she had described as 'useless' on social media.

CS Balala explained that the ministry could not associate itself with such views and was committed to saving the park and other protected areas.

"We have just seen what she tweeted in the past, that Nairobi National Park was useless. We do not want to be associated with such people and such thinking," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to members of the public who used social media to highlight the issue, allowing the ministry to take swift action.

Pauline Njoroge's replacement is Standard Group journalist Najma Ismail, who will now serve on the board.
