On August 8, 2020, former Changamwe Member of Parliament Ramadhan Seif Kajembe was laid to rest in Kwa Shehe, Jomvu, under strict COVID-19 burial protocols.
At 76 years old, Kajembe had been receiving treatment at Pandya Memorial Hospital for the last two weeks before his passing.
He had previously lost his first wife, Aziza Kajembe, on July 24, 2020, just four months after losing his second wife, Zaharia.
Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata represented President Uhuru Kenyatta at the burial and read his speech, describing Kajembe as a charismatic leader with a vision for development and a perfect example of servant leadership.
A heavy police presence was deployed at his homestead to control the crowds who had gathered to pay their last respects, while health officers from the County Health Department ensured that Ministry of Health regulations were strictly observed.
Kajembe served as Changamwe MP from 2007 to 2013 on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket and later ran for the Mombasa Senatorial seat in the 2013 General Election, but lost to former Senator Hassan Omar Sarai.
