Published on August 8, 2020, a dispute between Brookhouse Schools and its parents escalated as the school demanded guardians to pay Sh45,000 for re-enrollment of their children.

The parents association deemed the move illegal, stating it amounts to a new contract and an attempt to undermine the pending petition determination.

According to the parents, the school is requiring them to pay and re-enroll the learners by Monday next week, with unclear consequences for those who fail to comply.

Parents had initially moved to court in April over what they deemed exorbitant charges for online learning, with the school demanding upwards of Sh700,000 a term.

Brookhouse Schools' director, Mr. John O'Connor, had previously dismissed a section of parents' demands for a reduction in school fees, stating that many others were okay with the charges.

"While the school may not agree with some of the comments made in your letter, we move forward with a positive commitment to our whole school community in a spirit of mutual respect," Mr. O'Connor said in a letter dated April 20.

"We are collecting the data of our students to know who are willing to enroll and continue with our lessons," he added.
