August 6, 2020, marked a significant shift in the views of economist David Ndii, who previously criticized former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for working with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Responding to a tweet, Ndii described Raila as a 'progressive hard working politician and a great team player. Over and above that, he is sober.'
Ndii's change of heart comes after he broke ranks with Raila in 2018, criticizing him for agreeing to work with the President in the famous handshake that restored peace in the country.
However, Ndii now believes that Raila could have led Kenya better than President Uhuru Kenyatta, citing the country's economic struggles under the current administration.
He attributed Kenyans' suffering to Raila's decision to work with Uhuru, noting that Kenya was over-borrowing and spending money on projects with no value for money.
Ndii also criticized the Jubilee government for making Kenyans poorer through a series of multi-billion scandals and poor economic strategies.
He listed several scandals, including the school laptops scam, SGR scam, Eurobond scam, and others, which he claimed were part of Uhuru's legacy.
