Instagram's Answer to TikTok: Reels ¶
Published on August 7, 2020, Instagram introduced Reels, a feature that lets users record and edit 15-second multi-clip videos with audio, effects, music, and creative tools, drawing comparisons to TikTok.
Reels is built right inside the Instagram app, allowing users to share their creations with followers in Feed and even in a new space in Explore if they have a public profile. This integration is a significant advantage, as users no longer need to download and use another app, like TikTok.
Reels offers a range of creative tools, including audio, AR effects, timer and countdown, align, and speed controls. Users can search for songs from the Instagram music library, use their own original audio, and even attribute their audio to themselves.
With Reels, users can create seamless transitions, slow-motion videos, and more. The feature is designed to democratize TikTok-style videos and allow new audiences of all ages to become more creative.
So, have fun reeling!
