On Friday, Airtel Kenya announced the launch of its Airtel TV app, a strategic move to grow its market share and compete with market leader Safaricom.

Available for download from the Play Store and Apple Store, the app allows Airtel customers to stream a wide range of entertainment content, including movies, music, cartoons, news, and sporting events.

The company has acquired the rights to premium content from global broadcasters such as Universal, Nickelodeon, and the BBC, which will be available to all Airtel mobile subscribers in Kenya.

Airtel TV is not subscription-based and will be free for Airtel users, making it an attractive option for customers looking for a new streaming service.

According to Airtel Kenya CEO Prasanta Das Sarma, Airtel TV is set to revolutionize the Video on Demand & Live TV viewing experience via smartphones and PCs.

With the launch of Airtel TV, Airtel aims to reduce the gap between itself and market leader Safaricom, and become a major player in the Kenyan telecommunications market.
