On August 7, 2020, Sergio Perez's Racing Point team announced that the Formula One driver would miss the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Just a day earlier, Perez had been given the green light by English health authorities to race after serving a seven-day quarantine period.
However, a new test revealed that Perez, who contracted the virus after visiting his mother in Mexico following the Hungarian Grand Prix, had tested positive again.
As a result, Perez will be replaced by German driver Nico Hulkenberg, who made an impressive return to the team in practice and qualifying for the British Grand Prix.
"I'm excited to get going again with the team at Silverstone," Hulkenberg said.
"I think we can fight for points this weekend, which is definitely my goal. I also want to wish Checo all the best in his recovery."— Nico Hulkenberg
