On August 7, 2020, a new aspirant joined the crowded race for the Football Kenya Federation presidency: youthful sports journalist Boniface Osano.

At 34, Osano is determined to bring fresh ideas to the table and take Kenyan football to the next level.

‘On my personal level, my wish is to see Harambee Stars and Harambee Starlets play at the next African Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup. I will also work to ensure that any delay in payment of any footballer competing in the top two tiers of Kenyan Football is a thing of the past,’ he said in a statement.

Osano, a former Deputy Secretary General of Agrochemical FC, aims to ensure the full transition of talented footballers from the grassroots to top leagues in and out of the country and even the national team Harambee Stars.

He also called on the government and stakeholders to prioritize the resumption of football activities in the country after a six-month Covid-19 enforced break.

Unlike other aspirants who have been critical of the current FKF leadership, Osano praised the Nick Mwendwa-led federation for its achievements in the past four years, but emphasized that Kenya football now needs fresh ideas to move forward.
