Former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe, a veteran politician, has passed away in hospital, leaving behind a legacy of 15 years of service as an MP and his tenure as the Kenya Ferry Service (KFS) board chairman.

According to Jomvu MP Badi Twalib, Kajembe's son-in-law, the politician was admitted to Pandya Memorial Hospital in Mombasa County soon after his wife, Zaharia, died two weeks ago. Zaharia reportedly suffered from Covid-19 complications.

Just four months prior, Kajembe lost his first wife, Aziza.

Denying reports that Kajembe suffered from coronavirus complications, Twalib stated, 'We are not experts so we cannot say he had those complications. What I know is that he had another disease, which led to his admission to the hospital.'

Mombasa lawmakers have mourned Kajembe as an iconic leader whose ways should be emulated. Senator Mohammed Faki described Kajembe as a visionary with immense experience in leadership and politics, saying, 'We pray that God rests his soul in eternal peace.'
