On August 7, 2020, a devastating fire swept through Tena estate in Nairobi, claiming one life and leaving several car washes and kiosks in ruins.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in one of the garages near Tena police post and quickly spread to nearby structures.

Nairobi county fire engines were quickly mobilized to contain the blaze, but not before it had caused significant damage.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Saidi Idi, owner of a nearby car wash, revealed that he received a call in the dead of night informing him of the fire.

'We got here as soon as we could, but it wasn't until morning that we found out that Tony was dead,' he said.

Idi expressed uncertainty about the deceased's presence in one of the makeshift kiosks at the time of the incident.

Buruburu Sub-County police commander Adamson Bungei confirmed that investigations into the incident were underway.

'At the moment, I can only say that the investigations will reveal what happened here. There was a fire, and a body was found in one of the kiosks,' he said.

The body of the deceased was transferred to City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
