Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe is back in the spotlight with a new online show, The Hot Seat, which is set to premiere on Sunday.

Maribe, who took a sabbatical from her career after being co-accused in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani in 2017, announced the launch of her new show on Instagram, saying she is now ready to get back on the spotlight.

According to Sarah Mwangi, the producer of the show, The Hot Seat will be aired online on social media platforms, including YouTube and Facebook, and will feature raw conversations, political affiliations, and in-depth inspiration.

‘She’s back…after a sabbatical from your screens… And she’s bringing on the heat…raw conversations, political affiliations, in-depth inspiration… the heat is on, only on #TheHotSeat,’ posted Jacque Maribe.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Mwangi said that the first episode of the show will feature Maribe sharing her life experiences and journey to becoming a political journalist.

‘The show launches on Sunday on YouTube and Facebook. Episode 1 will be basically Jacque sharing her story about her growing up and her love for political journalism. Going forward, the show will tackle political matters,’ said Mwangi.

Maribe's decision to launch the show comes at a time when many Kenyans are seeking accountability from their leaders, and Mwangi believes that now is the right time for Maribe to continue with her passion for journalism.
