Kenya's COVID-19 cases have risen to 25,138, with 727 new infections reported on August 7, 2020. The Ministry of Health reported the cases after testing 6,814 samples within a 24-hour period.

The new cases include 16 foreigners and 711 Kenyans, with a disproportionate number of infections among men. Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe noted this trend, urging men to take the measures to contain the spread of the virus seriously.

According to the ministry, males accounted for 539 cases against 188 reported among females. Kagwe attributed the disparity to men's lack of care, saying, "We must honestly ask ourselves as men what is going on and we must address it, in terms of care, in terms of using masks and social distancing women are being much careful."

Nairobi accounted for most cases at 393, followed by other counties. The health ministry also reported that 674 patients had recovered from the disease, including 549 discharged from health facilities.

With the newly reported recoveries, the number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 since April rose to 11,118. Unfortunately, another 14 coronavirus-related deaths were reported, raising the country's death toll to 413.
