Airtel Launches Free Entertainment App in Kenya

On August 7, 2020, Airtel announced the launch of its Airtel TV app, a mobile entertainment platform that offers a wide range of local and international content to customers in Kenya.

The Airtel TV app is the first of its kind in Kenya, providing customers with access to premium content from top studios, including Universal, Nickelodeon, and the BBC, without any subscription fees.

According to Airtel Kenya CEO Prasanta Das Sarma, the Airtel TV app is set to revolutionize the video on demand and live TV viewing experience via smartphones in Kenya.

“Airtel offers customers access to the very best shows, movies, and live television engagements for free. Airtel TV has no monthly subscriptions and is accessible as long as you have data for streaming,” he explained.

The Airtel TV app is available for download from the Play Store and Apple Store, and customers can register with their Airtel line to start enjoying their favourite entertainment genres.

With the launch of the Airtel TV app, customers will have the double advantage of using Airtel’s affordable data bundles to watch the content.

Kenya has seen a significant growth in streaming services during the Covid-19 pandemic, as citizens have more free time on their hands.
