Kenya Records 727 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Tally Rises to 25,138

Kenya's Covid-19 cases have risen to 25,138 after 727 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. The new cases were confirmed by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on August 7, 2020.

According to Kagwe, the new cases were identified from 6,814 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Out of the 727 cases, 711 were Kenyan, with 16 foreigners. The cases comprised 535 men and 188 women.

Health CS Kagwe also announced that 674 patients had recovered in the last 24 hours, with 125 recovering from home-based care and 549 from hospitals. This brings the total number of recoveries to 11,118.

Unfortunately, 14 patients died in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 413.

While addressing the media in Kisii County, Kagwe warned Kenyans not to take the Covid-19 pandemic lightly, saying 'while these COVID-19 figures may be boring, the most boring thing you can have is staring at the ceiling in a hospital bed. Don't wish to get there.'

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i also urged Kenyans to adhere to the laid-down measures and pray for leaders, especially President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has asked Kenyans to take care of themselves and their neighbors.

CS Matiang'i also praised the efforts of county governments in curbing the spread of Covid-19, saying that five months down the line, governors had stepped up their level of preparedness.
