On August 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a significant appointment, naming KANU Secretary-General Nick Salat as the Chairman of the Agriculture Development Corporation Board.
This move is part of the post-election agreement between Jubilee and KANU, which has seen several key appointments in recent months.
Salat's appointment follows the appointment of West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio as the Senate Majority leader in May, and the appointment of Philemon Kandie as the Managing Director of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority, a close ally of KANU Party leader Gideon Moi.
The younger Moi is expected to benefit from government appointments ahead of the 2022 elections, with rumours suggesting that senior KANU members may be appointed to the Cabinet in the coming days.
