On a typical day, a person's personal hygiene can make or break a relationship. For many Kenyans, dating someone with poor hygiene is a major turn-off.
According to a recent survey, many people have had to deal with partners who neglect their personal hygiene, leading to some hilarious and disturbing experiences.
One respondent, Amina Hage, shared a particularly shocking story about a lawyer she dated. 'He came and picked me from my Mercedes, but when I arrived at his place, I was greeted by a pungent smell and a messy environment,' she recalled.
Another respondent, Pendo Nyanam, shared a story about a partner who used to spit on the floor. 'I was walking in the room and slipped and fell, only to find out it was spit!' she exclaimed.
While some people found it hard to deal with their partners' poor hygiene, others took it in stride. 'I once dated a guy who showered once a week, but I didn't mind,' said one respondent.
However, for many people, poor hygiene is a major deal-breaker. 'I can't date someone who doesn't prioritize their personal hygiene,' said one respondent.
As the survey shows, dating someone with poor hygiene can be a recipe for disaster. But for those who are willing to take the risk, there may be some unexpected benefits.
