On June 20, 2020, a fatal shooting occurred in Seattle's Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) zone, leaving one man dead. The Seattle Police Department has now identified the suspect in the case.

According to the police, the suspect is Marcel Levon Long, 18, who remains at large. The authorities were able to identify Mr. Long after collecting high-quality surveillance video footage and statements from several eyewitnesses.

The victim, Horace Lorenzo Anderson, 19, was shot around 2:20 a.m. on June 20. By the time officers arrived at the scene, they were confronted by an aggressive and volatile crowd. Mr. Anderson was later taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he died minutes later.

Witnesses described the events leading up to the shooting, including a possible fight between the two men a year earlier. One witness, who claimed to be the second in command at the CHOP volunteer security force, collected shell casings and bullet fragments from the scene.

Another witness, identified as PR, claimed to have witnessed the fatal shooting and tried to prevent it by firing his own gun into the air. PR later identified Mr. Long from a series of photographs provided by the police.

Video footage appears to show Mr. Long and Mr. Anderson talking before Mr. Long pulled out a gun and pointed it at Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson quickly turned and walked away, but Mr. Long chased him and shot him twice.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Mr. Anderson was shot at least four times, with two 40-caliber rounds recovered from his body.
