On August 6, 2020, the bodies of two school boys who had gone missing in late July were discovered in a swamp in Limuru, Kiambu County.
The boys, 13-year-old John Njenga Gathirimo and 10-year-old Kevin Kariuki Mwaura, were last seen near Impressive Gardens alongside a third boy.
According to Samuel Kamau, a family member, one of the boys had taken a flock of sheep home, but the two were not seen again until their bodies were found.
Area chief Michael Kang'ethe reported that two children who were playing near the riverbank had seen the bodies on the surface of the water.
"They ran back and reported their findings and when the villagers visited the site, they noted that the bodies were the two missing boys," Kang'ethe stated.
Police officers have launched an investigation into the cause of the boys' deaths.
This incident comes a month after the bodies of two children (Alvina Mutheu and Henry Jacktone) were found hidden in the boot of a car at Athi River Police Station.
