Kenya Records 538 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Cases Rise to 24,401

On Thursday, Kenya recorded a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, with 538 new positive cases reported. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 24,401, as of August 6, 2020.

Of the new cases, 516 are Kenyans, while the remaining cases are foreigners. The youngest case is a two-year-old, while the oldest is 77 years old, according to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman.

514 patients have recovered from the virus, with 431 of them recuperating under the home-based care program. Unfortunately, eight patients have died, bringing the total fatality tally to 399. Six of the deceased had underlying health conditions.

Health officials are urging mothers to take precautions to prevent the transmission of the virus to their babies. They are advised to wash their hands before holding their babies and to wear a face mask while breastfeeding.
