On Thursday, Kenya recorded 538 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 24,401, according to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman.

Of the new cases, 516 are Kenyans, while the rest are foreigners. The youngest case is a two-year-old, while the oldest is 77 years old, as explained by Rashid Aman.

514 patients have recovered, with 431 of these recovering under home-based care. Eight patients have died, bringing the total fatality tally to 399, with six of the deceased having underlying conditions.

During the press briefing, Rashid Aman also announced that the Ministry of Health is celebrating World Breastfeeding Week and urged mothers to wash their hands before holding their babies and wear a face mask while breastfeeding to prevent coronavirus transmission.
