Published on August 6, 2020, the podcast 'Nice White Parents' from Serial Productions, a New York Times Company, examines the 60-year relationship between white parents and the public school down the block.

Chana Joffe-Walt, a reporter, follows the story of a Brooklyn middle school that receives a huge influx of new students in 2015, with the 6th grade class swelling from 30 mostly Latino, Black, and Middle Eastern students to 103, driven almost entirely by white families.

As the school navigates this change, it becomes clear that everyone wants 'what's best for the school,' but they don't share the same vision of what 'best' means.
