On August 6, 2020, Makini Schools announced the introduction of the Cambridge Curriculum to its teaching portfolio, marking a significant development in the school's academic offerings.
The elite school will continue to offer the normal national curriculums, including the 8-4-4 system and the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC), while incorporating the Cambridge Curriculum for students seeking an international education.
The Cambridge Curriculum frameworks provide a structured approach to teaching and learning, with comprehensive learning objectives that cater to the needs of students and parents alike.
According to Makini Schools, the addition of the Cambridge Curriculum will enable students to transition smoothly to the next grade level while gaining an international education enriched with Kenyan content.
“This is an international curriculum that delivers high-quality education but sustained at a mid-fee range, a curriculum that would enable a transition to the next grade level as well as an international curriculum enriched with Kenyan content and applicable to the requirements of our learners,” the institution said in a statement.
The Cambridge Curriculum will be introduced from Year 4 to Year 9, starting September 7, 2020, and will cover key subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, History, ICT, Physical Education, Geography, and Global Perspectives.
Swahili and French will be taught as additional languages, and the curriculum will be implemented virtually, maintaining the school's ethos and values.
