On August 6, 2020, Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency, made a significant investment in Kenya's nut processing industry by disbursing a multi-million dollar debt financing to Kenya Nuts Company.

As East Africa's largest nut processing firm and one of the world's largest exporters of cashew and macadamia nuts, Kenya Nuts Company is known for its popular brands, including Out of Africa, Nutfields, Morendat, and Leleshwa.

Proparco, which has been operating in East Africa for over 40 years, provides funding and support to businesses across the continent, promoting sustainable economic, social, and environmental development. The company has a long history of funding notable projects in the region, including the Lake Turkana Wind Farm project.
