Bitange Ndemo Re-elected to Safaricom Board Audit Committee

On August 6, 2020, Safaricom's Annual General Meeting (AGM) saw the re-election of Dr. Bitange Ndemo to the company's Board Audit Committee.

Dr. Ndemo, a former ICT Permanent Secretary, was re-elected alongside other influential individuals, including Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary Esther Koimett, Rose Ogega, and Mohamed Joosub.

Ms. Ogega was also re-elected as a director of the company.

During the virtual AGM, shareholders also resolved to appoint Ernst & Young as the company's Auditors, with the directors authorized to fix their remuneration for the ensuing financial year.

Shareholders further approved a final dividend of Ksh1.40 per share for the financial year ended March 31, 2020, to be paid on or before August 31, 2020.

Additionally, the company's articles of association were amended to allow for electronic general meetings, enabling simultaneous attendance and participation by electronic means.
