Published on August 6, 2020, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has accused North Eastern leaders of scaring Raila Odinga to abandon his support for the third basis revenue formula.

Raila Odinga announced on Wednesday that he was no longer supporting the formula and asked Senators to come up with a way that would ensure no county loses funds.

According to Moses Kuria, Raila's change of heart was due to the pressure exerted by North Eastern leaders, who were opposed to the formula.

Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdulahi, a North Eastern leader, had earlier accused Raila of throwing them under the bus by supporting the formula.

Moses Kuria has been pushing for the new formula, which would have seen Mt Kenya Counties receive more money.

On Tuesday, Senators voted to adjourn the motion on the formula to allow for further discussions.

DP William Ruto has also been advocating for a win-win formula, which Raila has now joined.
