Uhuru's Verdict on Senators Who Snubbed Him

Published on August 6, 2020

President Uhuru Kenyatta's hammer is about to fall on five Jubilee senators who snubbed a meeting convened by him in May. The senators, Millicent Omanga, Mary Seneta Yiane, Falhada Dekow Iman, Naomi Jillo Waqo, and Alice Milgo, were summoned to State House to ratify the removal of Deputy President William Ruto's allies, Majority leader Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his then majority whip Senator Susan Kihika.

The five senators absconded the State House meeting, where Ruto's ally Senator Kipchumba Murkomen was ejected and replaced by KANU's West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio, while Senator Irungu Kang'ata was installed as a replacement of Sen Susan Kihika.

A National Executive Council (NEC) will endorse an indictment meted on the senators by a disciplinary committee, which sat down to probe their conduct following show-cause letters by Party Chairman Nelson Dzuya.

According to Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, 'When the NEC meet, they will look at the report, deliberate on it and either adopt, moderate or reject it. It is the party leader who will invite NEC at his pleasure. In the meantime, we will continue waiting.'

Party Chairman Nelson Dzuya confirmed that the report was ready and awaiting NEC to meet and decide, saying, 'Once the party leader calls a meeting, we will meet and decide the fate of the five nominated Senators.'

The Jubilee Party Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Lumatete Muchai, concluded their hearings on show-cause submissions by five senators two months ago. The report was handed over to the party leader in late June as a top party secret for his consideration and guidance.

DP Ruto's diehards keep marching on and they clearly have moved on and continued their political association with now deserted number two.

DP Ruto's ally Caleb Kositany said, 'The senators committed no crime at all. They should have no disciplinary action in the first place unless the party decides to go wayward. It should not consider the report at all.'

President Uhuru who has politically fallen out with his deputy, William Ruto, is trying every option to tame DP with all the changes he oversaw in the National assembly and the Senate proving that his Deputy is a step ahead or seems like he has a plan for every probable option on the president's table.

Argentine Marxist revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevera said, 'SILENCE IS AN ARGUMENT CARRIED OUT BY OTHER MEANS' and clearly, you can't say William Ruto is not doing politic; and for those who don't know, SILENCE is a political statement.
