On July 23, a woman was brutally gang-raped by two men in Githurai, near the Kenya Defence Forces Kahawa barracks' fence. The suspects, including Peter, dragged her into a thicket and committed the heinous crime.

After the attack, one of the suspects, Peter, demanded the victim's phone, claiming she had left it at home. However, he later called the victim to confirm that she did not have the phone with her. The call was received on the victim's phone after she switched it on.

On July 28, Peter was arrested in Githurai after being spotted by the woman he had allegedly raped. At the time of his arrest, he was found with the victim's phone, which was later confirmed.

On August 6, 2020, Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani handed Peter an 18-month sentence for possession of fake currency, specifically Sh20,000 in fake notes. The sentence will be served concurrently with his ongoing trial for robbery with violence and gang-rape charges.
