On August 6, 2020, former Laikipia East MP Anthony Mutahi was committed to a six-month civil jail for interfering with a land suit in Nanyuki, despite court orders.

Justice Mary Oundo, sitting in Nyeri, had issued orders in November 2017, restraining Mutahi and his family from interfering with the land until the case on its ownership was determined in court.

However, Mutahi started building a mansion on the suit land, prompting Fiona Ansett to move to court for contempt of court.

“Mutahi is hereby committed to a civil jail for a term of six months for contempt of court for deliberately disobeying orders of this court given on November 8, 2017,” ordered Justice Oundo.
