On Thursday, August 4, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta dropped a hint about a looming reorganization of his government, which would see new appointments, including more young Kenyans as Chief Administrative Secretaries.

Speaking during the launch of Generation Unlimited Kenya, a new youth program, the President expressed his confidence in the performance of recently appointed CASs Zack Kinuthia (Education) and Nadia Ahmed (ICT and Youth Affairs).

‘I really look forward to working with our young people and as I said earlier, in the coming days I will be adding a good number of CASs of the same generation. Young men and women whom I hope will engage with their fellow young people and bring them on board to become decision-makers today,’ he said.

The President described Kenya's youthful population as the nation's greatest resource, with the highest potential to uplift the country's socio-economic profile.

He recognized that this generation of young people has the potential to expand Kenya's and Africa's productive workforce and turn Africa into a frontier of growth and innovation.

Uhuru's administration has prioritized investments in young people, which are yielding results, and Kenya has made good progress towards the achievement of objectives of GenU.

Reports in June 2020 suggested that President Kenyatta would reorganize his government, with influence from his handshake partner Raila Odinga.

However, the plan to appoint new CASs will be a shot in the arm for the youth who have criticized the president for neglecting them.
