On August 5, 2020, the National Governors Association (NGA) announced its new Executive Committee leadership for 2020-21, with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo becoming chair.

As the longest-serving current governor next year, Governor Cuomo will lead the nine-member Executive Committee, guiding the association's priorities and activities. He is also the first governor from New York to become NGA's Chair.

The Executive Committee includes:

  • Alabama Governor Kay Ivey
  • Colorado Governor Jared Polis
  • Maryland Governor Larry Hogan
  • Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker
  • Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer
  • New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham
  • Utah Governor Gary Herbert
  • Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson as vice chair

The NGA chair and vice chair supervise the association's operations on behalf of the entire membership of 55 governors, overseeing policy issues and federalism, homeland security, the federal budget, and federal tax policy.

Founded in 1908, the National Governors Association is the bipartisan organization of the nation's 55 governors, working together to share best practices, address national and state issues, and support federalism.
