On August 5, 2020, Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 671 new Covid-19 cases, with 633 being Kenyans and 33 foreigners.
Among the new cases was a family of 48 members from Migori in western Kenya, who tested positive for the coronavirus after one of them traveled from Nairobi.
Health Director-General Dr. Patrick Amoth noted that 10 healthcare workers had succumbed to the virus as of August 5, with 723 cases reported among medical staff.
Kenya's national tally stood at 23,873 confirmed cases, with 9,930 recoveries and 391 fatalities.
