On August 5, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta revealed his intention to appoint additional young Kenyans as Chief Administrative Secretaries in the coming days.

During the last Cabinet reorganization in January, the President had appointed several individuals under the age of 35 years to the role, with the aim of setting a positive example for others in terms of integrity and service delivery.

Uhuru expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the young Chief Administrative Secretaries, who have been working diligently to ensure the Government's development agenda is achieved.

Speaking at the launch of the Generation Unlimited Kenya, the President directed the young Chief Administrative Secretaries to engage with the youth across the country and increase their participation in public discourse.

He acknowledged that more needs to be done to ensure the youth are heard and their voices are represented in Government processes.

Uhuru emphasized the Government's commitment to equipping young people with the right education and providing them with opportunities to grow and prosper.

However, he noted that there is a disconnect in terms of access to information and funds, which needs to be addressed.

President Uhuru directed ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru to come up with mechanisms to bridge the gaps and make it easier for young people to access funds.

He also emphasized the need to fix existing programs, especially those affecting the youth, women, and people with disabilities, rather than launching new ones.

Uhuru encouraged young people to form groups and establish companies to take on government jobs directly, rather than being recruited by third parties.

He urged the youth to avoid divisive politics and not allow themselves to be used as tools by politicians.
