This archive report was first published on 5 August 2020.

As of three weeks ago, Nairobi residents have been facing a severe shortage of kerosene, a common cooking fuel.

Gas, an alternative cooking method, is deemed too expensive and unaffordable for many residents.

A spot check in Eastleigh Section three revealed long queues of people waiting to purchase kerosene at petrol stations.

Despite a stable flow of imports, parts of the country are experiencing a fuel shortage.

Some traders suspect that Oil Marketing Companies are hoarding kerosene in anticipation of higher prices in the coming days.
