Kenya's Health ministry reported a shocking case of Covid-19 transmission within a family in Migori, with at least 48 members testing positive after one of them traveled from Nairobi on August 5, 2020.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the disease spread across three generations of an extended family in the region.
Mr. Kagwe announced the infections during the daily Covid-19 briefing, where he also confirmed 671 new Covid-19 cases, with 633 being Kenyans and 38 foreigners.
The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi leading with 376 cases, followed by Kiambu, Machakos, Kisumu, and Mombasa.
Meanwhile, 603 patients recovered from the virus, bringing Kenya's total recoveries to 9,930, with 436 being on home-based care and 167 discharged from hospitals.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 fatalities in the country reached 391 after three more patients died overnight, as reported by Mr. Kagwe.
