On Wednesday morning, kiosk owners in Mlolongo town woke up to find their structures flattened by County Askaris, with all their belongings taken away.

Chairman of Mlolongo town traders, Mr Boniface Mutiso, stated that the Askaris invaded the kiosks on Tuesday night at about 10pm, leaving the small-scale traders counting their losses.

Speaking to The Standard at the scene, Mr Mutiso questioned the County Government's decision, citing that the traders had not violated any rules and were operating within the by-laws of the county.

He emphasized that the families of the affected traders were at risk of starvation, as the businesses were their only source of income.

Mr Mutiso appealed to Governor Alfred Mutua to intervene and rescue those whose families were left vulnerable, adding that the traders would hold peaceful demonstrations if proper action was not taken to restore the situation.
