WOCU Appoints New Committee to Combat Covid-19 Pandemic

On August 5, 2020, the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) announced the formation of a new committee to help credit unions worldwide respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.

George Ombado, CEO of African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Association (ACCOSCA), has been named a member of the WOCCU's Covid-19 Response Committee.

The committee will focus on identifying best practices and strategies that credit unions can use to mitigate the health and economic impacts of the crisis.

Other members of the committee include WOCCU Board Directors Martha Durdin of Canada, Charles Murphy of Ireland, and Rafał Matusiak of Poland, as well as Greg Michlig, Chief Engagement Officer of the Credit Union National Association (USA), Elenita San Roque, CEO of the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions, and Adrian Rodriguez, CEO of the Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Costa Rica.

The committee will hold its first meeting on August 27, 2020, and will host its first webinar on September 17, 2020.
