This archive report was first published on 5 August 2020.

On a typical day, three weeks ago, a woman received a call from a person claiming to be from Safaricom. The caller read out her ID number, which made her believe him. He asked her a few quick questions about her M-pesa account, and she thought he was genuine.

However, about 20 minutes after the call, she received a message that KSh 200,000 had been transferred to her account. She was shocked and tried calling Safaricom, but they told her there was nothing they could do because she had given the con artist private information.

Devastated, she tried reporting the matter to the police, but they demanded a bribe to help her. Feeling helpless, she turned to a spell caster, Doctor Mugwenu, who she contacted on 0740637248. He told her he had caught many thieves using his spell casting powers and offered to help her recover her money.

Despite the spell being cast remotely, it worked in less than 24 hours. The con artists were pictured eating grass on the news, and they begged her to forgive them. They returned all her money and even sent KSh 20,000 as a token of apology.
