The company, led by Managing Director Peter Gichaaga, was recognized for its innovative approach to water and wastewater management, particularly in the desalination sector.
According to the Global Water Awards, Nyewasco's performance has set a new standard for water services in Sub-Saharan Africa, with other providers seeking guidance from the company.
One of the key factors that contributed to Nyewasco's success was its ability to reduce non-revenue water to 16% in 2019, compared to the national average of 41%.
Non-revenue water refers to water that is lost due to pipe leakages before it reaches the customers.
Managing Director Peter Gichaaga attributed the company's win to teamwork and dedication in serving consumers.
