A Kenya Defence Forces aircraft crash-landed at Dhobley Airstrip in Somalia on Monday, August 3, 2020, while taking off for Nairobi.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to a statement by KDF on Tuesday, all 10 military personnel on board are currently at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital and are in stable condition.
“An investigation team is in Dhobley to establish the cause of the crash,” KDF said.
The aircraft, a double-engine plane registered in Kenya as KAF 128, had delivered supplies to Amisom.
Kenya Defence Forces has 11 Twin Panda aircraft, which have become vital after the military retired its five aircraft used for heavy transport.
The Defence Forces intend to acquire three Italian manufactured Spartan aircraft, with the first already delivered.
Recent incidents involving aircraft in Somalia include the crash of an African Express plane in May, which killed six people on board, and a Bluebird Aviation plane that crashed in July, narrowly saving three crew members.
