On August 4, 2020, Kenya reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, with 603 new infections confirmed, bringing the national tally to 23,202.
According to the Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman, the new cases were recorded after 4,547 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of samples tested to a significant milestone.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Dr. Aman announced that six more patients succumbed to the respiratory disease, raising the total number of fatalities to 388.
However, the CAS also announced a positive development, with 587 more patients being discharged from various healthcare systems after recovering from the virus.
Of the recoveries, 500 people were from the home-based care system, while 87 more recovered from various health facilities across the country.
The total number of recoveries in Kenya so far is 9,327.
The new infections were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 373, followed by Kiambu with 35 cases.
