On July 21, Corporal Harrison Nkuja Gideon, a police officer, collapsed and died in a toilet at Equity Bank Makutano branch in Meru town.

Initially, there were speculations that he had succumbed to COVID-19, but his family has since revealed that he actually died from a heart attack.

As reported by TUKO.co.ke, the officer was unwell in the morning of his death and had vomited before passing away.

Due to precautions related to the spread of COVID-19, the bank hall was cordoned off by the county COVID-19 surveillance team, who picked up the body after two hours.

Meru Public health director John Inanga explained that they were called in to collect the body as a precautionary measure since the officer's death could not be explained.

Corporal Gideon was laid to rest on August 3 in his home in Athiru-Gaiti in Igembe South, Meru county.

His death is one of several mysterious cases of people collapsing and dying on the spot in recent weeks.

On July 17, a woman in Machakos county collapsed and died while washing clothes, and on July 20, a middle-aged man fell down and died after alighting from a matatu.
