August 4, 2020, marks the day a warrant of arrest was issued against Noel Nyongesa Makeni, a Kanduyi parliamentary aspirant, over assault allegations.
According to Bungoma South police boss Wilson Nanga, Makeni has been on the run for a long time.
On March 15, Makeni and a group of about five people allegedly raided and assaulted businessman Victor Wafula in Nabongo estate, Bungoma town.
Wafula reported the incident at the Bungoma Police station, with OB number 47/16/3/20.
"He assaulted Victor Wafula, a businessman in Bungoma town and fled. The complainant filed a report but the accused person has been on the run," said Nanga.
Wafula has expressed frustration over the slow pace of the police investigation, saying, "I was assaulted and injured by the accused person, I want justice. Police should arrest and charge him in court,"
