On March 10, 2017, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa allegedly committed an offence at Kitengela Township in Isinya Sub-county, according to a police report.

Barasa was charged with two counts of defrauding a businessman, John Irungu Mwangi, of 450,000 shillings by selling him a car that was still charged to Uwezo Microfinance Bank and had an uncleared loan.

The car in question is a Toyota Hiace registration KBX 734E.

Barasa's lawyer, George Khaminwa, denied the allegations before Kajiado Resident Magistrate Becky Cheloti Barasa, who set free the legislator on a Ksh 100,000 bond.
