On August 4, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic with the discharge of 587 patients from various hospitals.
According to the Ministry of Health, these patients had recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,327.
However, the same day, the Ministry also announced that 605 individuals had tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in the country to 23,202.
Of the new cases, 582 were Kenyans, while 27 were foreigners. The breakdown by gender showed that 401 were male and 204 were female.
Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman expressed his condolences to the families of the six patients who lost their lives, bringing the total number of fatalities to 388.
Dr Aman also warned Kenyans about the improper discarding of facemasks, which poses both environmental and health risks.
